Earth Justice Ministry
Information and action for a livable future.
Focusing on the seventh Unitarian Universalist principle, respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part, we recognize that the state of our natural environment is the context for everything else our lives, our social justice work, and our politics. Our goal is to engage the congregation in the planning and execution of activities that promote spiritual growth through a connection with nature, and that lead to a sustainable lifestyle at worship, work, and home. Past activities include:
- We received Green Sanctuary Certification from the Unitarian Universalist Association.
- Building on our Green Sanctuary program, the Environmental Committee (precursor of the Earth Justice Ministry) created the Sustain Our Society (SOS) project. The SOS project was an exciting project that included:
- improving our historic building’s energy efficiency,
- the installation of photovoltaic (solar) panels, and
- creating a rich, supportive educational program to address the issues of energy resources and climate change.
