  • Basic Buddhism: 
    Breathing and Bodhisattvas
    Saturday, April 5, 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
    Facilitator:  Paul Norton
    Cost:  $25 Members/$30 Non-Members
    (cost includes a catered lunch)
     
    This seminar will offer instruction and experiences focused on the basic practices of Buddhism including breath meditation, walking meditation, loving kindness and body awareness.  An additional focus will be the Four Brahmaviharas which is the Buddhist way of looking at this important and elusive thing we call love.
     
  • Emily Dickinson Wrestles With God
    Instructor:  Angela Sorby
    Monday, April 7, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
    Cost: $5 Members/$10 Non-members
     
    In this one-night course we’ll read several of Dickinson’s most deeply (and irreverently) spiritual poems, and explore the rich cultural world of America in the 1860s (the Civil War, Transcendentalism, evolutionary theory) as we reconsider Dickinson’s life — which was as daring as her poetry!

  • Intermediate Lifewheel
    Instructor: Kathy Kouzmanoff
    Tuesdays, April 8-29, 7:00-8:30 p.m.
    Cost: $25 Members/$40 non-members
     
    The class will include the following topics: Motivation and Ethics; Emotions and Relationships; Identity and Focus; and Awareness and Wisdom. Recommended text, but not required: Lifewheel: Your Choices at Life’s Every Turn, available at www. Booklocker.com.
     
  • Exploring Gay Men’s Lives
    Presenter: Will Fellows
    Tuesday, April 15, 7:00-8:30 p.m.
    Cost: $5 Members/$10 Non-members
     
    This class will present a discussion on the lives of gay men as well as a slide show depicting various aspects of the topic. We will examine some of the experiences of gay men growing up in America, including rural Wisconsin, as well as the extraordinary contributions gay men have made to the American culture. Also included:  entertaining overviews and selected readings from Will Fellows’ books, and time for questions and discussion.
     
  • For Goodness Sake: A Short Class on Business Ethics
    Presenter: Kevin Gibson
    Friday, April 18, 6:30-8:30 p.m. 
    Cost: $15 Members/$20 Non-members
     
    A  broad introduction to some major concepts in the analysis of business ethics, including the social responsibility of business; autonomy of employers and workers; and how we account for corporate impact on communities and the environment.   Wine and cheese are included in the cost of registration.
     
  • Commuting By Bicycle, Safely and Enjoyably
    Wednesday, April 23, 7:00– 8:30 p.m.
    Presenter:  Claude VanderVeen
    Cost:  $ 5 Members/$10.00  Non-Members
     
    Claude will cover topics such as dressing for comfort and safety, all seasons; equipment, including the bicycle, lock, helmet, accessories; finding a safe route; and attitude in good times and bad.
