In this sermon from Memorial Day weekend, I explore the evidence for the disturbing concern that a peculiarly American form of fascism may be on the rise in our country. A tragically trumped up war in Iraq, warrant-less wiretaps, secret CIA prisons, and officially sanctioned torture are only a few of the concerns. Along the way, we may also want to explore the provocative understanding of fundamentalism as religious fascism and fascism as political fundamentalism.
