What is podcasting?
Podcasting makes a recorded file, typically an audio “MP3″ file, available for Internet downloading via an automatic “feed.” You can then playback the downloaded podcast whenever you want from your computer or from a portable media player. Podcasting is the audio/video extension of the RSS feeds you may already be familiar with.
What do I need to receive podcasts?
The first thing you need is podcast subscription software. Your options for managing podcast subscriptions include the latest version of Apple® iTunes® (which has everything needed built in), as well as other software and service options like the Juice software or the Odeo service. The most recent version of Microsoft’s Internet Explorerer (IE7) can also be used to retreive these feeds and the audio files. A video tutorial showing and describing how to do this is available from the Awakened Voice Learning Center.
Once you have set up a subscription, you will be able to listen to podcast audio from your computer (provided it has sound and MP3 music support). Most computers are now provided with a MP3 player. If your computer doesn’t already have an MP3 player, we recommend the free VLC media player. If you want to also make your podcasts portable, you will need to transfer them from your computer to a portable media device.
How do I subscribe to your podcast?
Right-click this podcasting graphic RSS feed
(or Control-click in MacOS®) and select “Copy Link Location” or “Copy Shortcut.” You may then paste the link into your podcasting software.
How do I unsubscribe to a podcast?
If you wish to unsubscribe to a podcast, please be sure to delete the entire feed entry (not just the individual audio editions) in your subscription management software. If you no longer regularly listen to our podcast, clearing that feed helps us contain our costs.
I subscribed to your podcast. Why don’t I hear anything?
First, be sure that you have audio player software; then, verify that the correct audio file was downloaded to your computer. You may need to modify the update settings in your podcasting software to ensure that this process occurs automatically. Next, check our podcast archive to see if a new edition has been posted.
